Care & Maintenance
A mechanical watch is a marvel of engineering, but to keep it running smoothly, regular care and maintenance are essential. Here are some key tips to ensure your watch remains in top condition:
1. Regular Cleaning
Dust, sweat, and daily wear can affect your watch’s appearance and performance. Clean the case and bracelet with a soft, lint-free cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a small amount of mild dish soap mixed with water. Make sure the crown is fully screwed down or engaged before gently wiping the case with a damp cloth. Avoid submerging the watch if it is not water-resistant.
2. Avoid Advancing the Date-Wheel at Certain Hours
Most mechanical watches with a date function have a “danger zone” between 8 PM and 4 AM. During these hours, the date-change mechanism is active, and manually adjusting the date could lead to damage. If you need to set the date, make sure to do so outside of these hours.
3. Proper Winding
Mechanical watches, especially automatic ones, need regular winding to maintain their power reserve. For watches equipped with a Miyota movement (such as the Starboard), it’s best to wind the crown clockwise 20-30 turns if the watch hasn’t been worn in a while. Avoid over-winding as this can put unnecessary strain on the internal mechanisms.
4. Professional Servicing
Like any finely tuned machine, your mechanical watch requires periodic servicing. We recommend getting your watch serviced every 7-9 years by a professional watchmaker. This ensures that the movement stays clean, lubricated, and functioning properly.
By following these simple steps, you’ll ensure that your Bernhardt watch remains a faithful companion for many years to come.

Since 2005
Our Story
Bernhardt Watch Company was born from a conviction that timepieces should be crafted with integrity, precision, and enduring beauty.
In 2005, Fred Amos set out to build exactly that. He created watches worthy of lifelong ownership. He approached watchmaking not as a transaction, but as a relationship—one between maker, wearer, and time itself. Every timepiece refined. Every customer known.
Through Fred’s talents of technical rigor and aesthetic discernment, Bernhardt distinguished itself through purposeful design and a refusal to cut production corners. The result was an enduring reputation among collectors who value substance over spectacle.
Today, Bernhardt stands as both continuation and evolution.
We remain guided by Fred’s principles: precision without compromise, craftsmanship without excess, and a deep respect for those who wear our watches. His legacy is not preserved in nostalgia but carried forward in every timepiece we create.
Bernhardt is not simply a watch company.
It is a lineage. A standard. A commitment to doing things properly, even when no one is watching.
Welcome to Bernhardt.
